A Landmark Moment for our chapter: SMPS South Florida Hosts Southeast Regional Conference (SERC)!

The SMPS South Florida Chapter proudly hosted its first-ever Southeast Regional Conference (SERC), Destination South Florida, from May 19–21 at the Hilton West Palm Beach. More than just a professional gathering, SERC 2025 was a vibrant celebration of the AEC industry, uniting marketers, business developers, and firm leaders from across the country to learn, connect, and experience the unique culture of South Florida.
From the very start, attendees were welcomed with energy and inspiration. Keynote speaker Kelly Merbler set the tone with a powerful message that energized the room, preparing everyone for the dynamic days ahead. Early arrivals enjoyed pre-conference offerings such as a behind-the-scenes project tour of Roger Dean Stadium, the ever-popular InDesign Fundamentals workshop with Juli Shaffer, and a lively welcome reception in the Hilton Courtyard—complete with music, dancing, and new connections under the stars.
The conference unfolded over three exciting days, packed with educational sessions from industry leaders, innovative workshops, and immersive networking experiences. Trolley cars transported guests in style to offsite socials, including a spirited golf outing at Drive Shack. Evening dine-arounds brought attendees together at local favorites like E.R. Bradley’s, Harry’s, and Kabuki, offering a true taste of South Florida’s culinary scene.
SERC wasn’t just about learning—it was about celebrating our community. The conference concluded with the first-ever SERC Spark Awards, honoring excellence in marketing and business development across the AEC industry. Capping it all off was a candid and entertaining conversation with Keelin Cox, host of the AEC Marketer Podcast, and the anonymous creative force behind the wildly popular “AEC Marketing Memes.”
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work and vision of the dedicated planning committee, led by our phenomenal Conference Chair, Bonni Funt. Her leadership and passion brought this ambitious event to life and took us all on an unforgettable journey.
